We often get asked: how much does it cost to make a geocoin, and is there a minimum?
The answer is that it depends…
One time costs:
To get started, we either need a ready-to-go design, or we can do the design work for you for a fee (usually between $100-$600 depending on the complexity of the project).
There is a one time mold fee (usually starting around $120). This is the mold from which all of the coins will be produced. Depending on the metal used, these do expire after 2-3 years if not again used before that time.
Per geocoin costs:
The minimum quantity is 50 for new geocoins. There are two parts to the per coin cost:
The actual cost of each coin (averaging $5-$10 each)
The tracking numbers through Geocaching HQ: $1.50/coin.
We recommend a starting budget between $600 - $900 for 50 fantastic trackable geocoins.
